I saw this earlier today in some rag or another.

I’m surprised it’s taken this long for our players to be linked with a reunion with the Walrus, particularly those he signed for us?

Not sure how much is in this, but he’s a Liverpool lad so maybe going back there suits him; personally I think its bollocks but 25 million?? Let’s hope it isn’t!

I saw that on the BBC Gossip page. It's got to be bullshit.

For a start Allardyce is more likely to get the sack come summer and I doubt that Everton would offer £25m for a LB when Sullivan would sell for half that much anyway...

They must be in the market for a bloke that stands like a statue in his own box while the other team score and whose corners always end up being passed back to our goalkeeper. I'd snap their hands off

He was probably worth around £10m before he got that injury at the start of the season, but he's been poor ever since

Remember when he used to make those powerful forward runs, put in perfect crosses & hit powerful shots in?

It's been a while, or did I imagine it?

I very much doubt it & it’s the sun ffs!

Evra will slot into the vacant spot nicely.

Think someone missed a decimal point here. Even then, that'd be robbery...did they not see his impression of Marcel Marceau for their goal yesterday ?

Maybe it's me but I think he's been one of our BETTER players this season.. 10 assists as well ... I hope he stays

Have to agree, Sold0. People have a pop at Moyes for supposedly being defensive, but how often do you have a centreback producing that many assists?

For that money and on current form, SELL SELL SELL.

I can't see anyone wanting him for that much?

Cresswell is so underrated on here. I think many here think he's been playing full back all season though.

Probably bollocks, but SELL if true. Although I would imagine Walrus is long gone before it can happen.

Think he is a Liverpool fan so might not be keen.

If we could only trust Sullivan and co to replace with better and to get decent back ups.

For me, we will have progressed when the likes of Cresswell are like say Trippier ( A better player ) who rotates with Rose and Davis for Spurs. Of course, I am dreaming.

The transfer strategy has to be 2 pronged. Buy proven players better than we have for the first 11 short term. These players more likely to be over 25 but hopefully not in the 30+ range. At the same time, start "seeding" ( ohhh err) the next generation. Development squad and U23s need to be continually strengthened.

You gradually lower the age of the team if the youth development works and you implement a system of play which all the teams at the club follow. A younger player just slots in etc. The added advantage is the wage bill reduces.

The other trick seems to be only selling players 28+ and sticking the young players of 22 / 23 on 5 year deals at decent but not exorbitant wages.

Sadly, its pretty much the Spurs model. But it took them 5 - 10 years to achieve and involved selling those older players at a premium to finance the investment in quality younger players. If you look at their investment and sales they have been spending 10 million above our top fees for a while on 1 or 2 real quality players while selling at a premium to finance it. Slowly they got better and better.

Advantage they had is they were not a struggling team to begin with and we have still to get to that stage.

Its a 10+ year strategy for us. No problem if we start to see progression. It starts with not struggling with relegation each year.

Problem is with 2 owners at the tail end of life and one almost in his coffin, they aint looking long term. They want to punt on a budget and buy high wage earning cast offs in some misguided idea that they can achieve glory on the quick.

I thought Trippier was a right back, which we need as well.

All about the replacement.

Not keen on selling anyone without a better player lined up.

if the manager gets the £25m to spend then YES, if its just another way of adding to the annual dwarfs profit margin then NO
